Giant Millipede, Monte Verde, Costa Rica

These millipedes were everywhere. If you pick them up they smell sweet - because they give off cyanide to prevent predators like monkeys from eating them. Actually, the capuchins rub them through their fur as a sort of anti-parasite comb!
